Heartfulness is a way of connecting with ourselves and others. It's a practice that can cultivate compassion, gratitude and positive feelings. As you practice heartfulness, over time, you may find a greater capacity to approach more challenging people and situations with gentleness and love.
Before you begin, choose a specific person (or pet) you'd like to focus on for the practice. When you're beginning, choose someone you love and who you find it easy to generate positive feelings. As you grow your practice, you can include love and gratitude for yourself, neutral people and people who are challenging for you.
May you feel happy and peaceful
May you be healthy and strong
May you feel loved
May you live with ease
When I'm leading this with my students, I end by ringing the bell and invite the class to put their focused listening attention on the sound until it stops. This routine is introduced in the first lesson (Mindful Body Position) and remains a routine throughout our daily practice. Once the sound of the bell has ended, I invite kids to share about their experiences during our practice.
